Nivin Pauly and Mohanlal starrer Kayamkulam Kochunni is one of the most highly-anticipated films in the Malayalam entertainment industry. The epic drama garnered a huge excitement post its trailer release. Apparently, the film which was expected to be an Onam release might get postponed by a week as it is still stuck with the CBFC board for its clearance certificate. Also, the post-production of the film is still going and will require some time to get it done. Clearly, this is not the right time for the film to release as the floods in Kerala has resulted in all-time low footfalls in the cinema halls. The film is made on the budget of Rs 45 crore making it one of most expensive ventures in the Malayalam cinema.
Talking about the film, Nivin plays the titular character in the film, who is considered as the Robin Hood of Kerala. On the other hand, Mohan portrays the character of Nivin’s mentor Ithikkara Pakki. The film also stars Priyanka Thimmesh, Priya Anand, Babu Antony and Sunny Wayne in pivotal roles. Being directed by Rosshan Andrrews, the film is based on Kochunni, the real-life famed highwayman, who was active in central Travancore during the 19th century. He robbed from the rich and gave to the poor. The film has been shot by ace Bollywood choreographer Binod Pradhan, who has worked in films like Rang De Basanti and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
